Mark has been successfully leading underwater photography workshops in the Red Sea, Caribbean and Far East since 1992. He writes regularly for many major diving magazines, photography and wildlife publications and has also been selected four times to represent Great Britain at The CMAS World Championships of Underwater Photography winning silver and bronze medals. Other competition successes include the BBC/British Gas Wildlife Photographer of the Year and the Agfa Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Mark’s books include "The Art and Technique of Underwater Photography" (Fountain Press) and "Diving and Snorkeling Belize" (Lonely Planet) and contributions to numerous other publications. Joining an underwater photography course or workshop with Mark will give you the opportunity of working with one of the UK's foremost photographers in a relaxed atmosphere and amongst a group who all have the common interest of taking pictures underwater. Groups are small to allow individual needs to be covered on a one to one basis and the aim is to achieve an improvement in your photography during the week and maybe even produce a competition winning picture! Preliminary dates for Red Sea workshops in 2009 are: 15-22 May Red Sea - Classic sites in the North 2-9 September Red Sea - Fury Shoal, Ras Banas and Sataya Improvements in digital photography over the past couple of years has had a significant impact on underwater image making. Whilst future workshops are not dedicated exclusively to digital imaging, the format will change slightly to reflect these exciting developments. Although film is far from dead it is becoming increasingly difficult to be certain that E6 processing chemicals will be available and so sadly film processing will not be offered on future workshops. The techniques used in capturing film and digital images underwater are very similar, the big difference with digital is that you can see your results immediately underwater. During the workshop Mark will make some themed presentations suitable for users of both media and be on hand to help and advise on the best techniques and solutions whatever equipment you choose to use.
